We are happy to announce this year´s Robert Koch Lecture: the winner of the Robert Koch Award is Shimon Sakaguchi, the awardee of the Robert Koch Gold Medal is Thomas Meyer. Both will present their work at the Robert Koch Lecture on Monday, November 16, this year as online lectures, from 10 am to 12 pm.
Shimon Sakaguchi, Immunology Frontier Research Center (IFReC) at Osaka University, Japan, is honoured for his ground-breaking research on immunological tolerance and the discovery of regulatory T-cells. The title of his Robert Koch Lecture is “Control of immune responses by regulatory T cells”.
Thomas Meyer is former Director of the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin and now Senior Professor at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. He is awarded the Robert Koch Gold Medal in recognition of his life’s work in the field of molecular infection biology. His Robert Koch Lecture is titled: “From infection research towards understanding how cancer develops”.
The event is hosted by Andreas Radbruch.
