„Fortunetelling with Poop“ – What does the intestinal flora tell about health?

Silver Speed Lecture Award for Lisa Budzinski from DRFZ

Lisa Budzinski won the Silver Speed Lecture Award on October 6, 2020. Within three minutes, the young PhD student convinced the virtual audience that the bacteria in the intestine are a mirror of health. In the Schwiete Laboratory for Microbiota and Inflammation, she analyses the intestinal flora from stool samples from patients with chronic inflammation. With the help of microbiota cytometry she aims to determine the success of therapy from the composition of the intestinal flora.

The Speed Lecture Award was awarded during the BIONNALE in Berlin. The event is supported by the “Cluster Gesundheitswirtschaft” Berlin Brandenburg. This year the event took place virtually on 06.10.2020.
