Leopoldina-Symposium – Environmental Education of the Immune System in Health and Disease, 29. / 30. August 2019

With more than 150 participants the Leopoldina-Symposium Environmental Education of the Immune System in Health and Inflammation was a great meeting with lots of interesting talks and discussions.
We thank all speakers and chairs, poster presenters and the three “science slammers” for sharing data and ideas and entertaining us.

The immune system is shaped by a highly diverse spectrum of stimuli, such as the local microenvironment of the immune cells, nutrition, the microbiota and the lifestyle of the host organism. Dysbalance of this fine-tuned system often results in severe, chronic inflammatory diseases, compromising 5 -10 % of the population.

The Leopoldina-Symposium includes five Sessions covering the following topics:

  • The Immune System in Context of its Body
  • Immune Imprinting by Nutrition and Lifestyle
  • Education of the Immune System by Microbiota
  • Pathogens and Chronicity
  • Therapies – One Health

The Symposium is jointly organized by the Leibniz ScienceCampus Chronic Inflammation and the Leibniz Network Immune Mediated Diseases, a consortium of currently 14 institutes of the Leibniz Association.
