Hello – as Postdoc Representatives at the DRFZ, we aim to create an open and vibrant network that fosters exchange, visibility and mutual support. The DRFZ is characterised by interdisciplinary research, and it is precisely this diversity that we wish to reflect and strengthen within the postdoc network. It is important to us to better connect postdocs at the institute, to promote academic exchange, and to develop formats that enrich the postdoc phase at the DRFZ both professionally and personally. We are always open to new ideas, suggestions and contributions, whether you wish to initiate a new format, get involved on an ad hoc basis, or simply become part of the network. Post-Doc Joint Retreat 2026<\/h2>\n \n
April 27, 2026. MPI-IB x MPUSP x DRFZ, Harnack House, Berlin\r\nTogether with the MPIIB\/MPUSP postdoc representatives Gil Henkin, Sarah Kramer, and Pablo Cortes, we \u2013 Alexandra Damerau, Anna-Friederike Marx, and Stephanie Lembke \u2013 organised the DRFZ\/MPIIB\/MPUSP Postdoc Retreat. Kindly hosted by the MPIIB, the event took place at the institute\u2019s conference venue in Dahlem, the Harnack House. The retreat brought together postdocs for a full day of scientific exchange, networking, and collaboration in a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere.<\/div>\n \n

The program began with opening remarks, followed by engaging speed research introductions and an interactive \u201chuman map\u201d activity. Scientific highlights included talks by invited speakers Felix Weiss (DRFZ) on cell-intrinsic mechanisms of inflammatory control, and Hyun-Dong Chang (DRFZ), who shared insights into his scientific journey.<\/p>\n

A central feature of the day was a roundtable discussion on the landscape of postdoc representation in Germany. The panel brought together a wealth of expertise, featuring:<\/p>\n

The academic program was further enriched by paired research interviews and dynamic lightning talks.<\/p>\n

Beyond the stimulating scientific program, attendees greatly enjoyed the excellent catering throughout the day, which contributed to the overall positive and relaxed atmosphere. The retreat concluded with dinner and closing remarks, leaving participants inspired and enthusiastic about future collaborations.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/section>\n\n\n\n\n

\u201eMeet the Neighbours\u201c-Symposium<\/h2>\n \n
\n

To promote networking with other postdocs in the immediate vicinity, the \u201cMeet the Neighbours\u201d symposium was held for the first time in August 2022. Together with the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology and the Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens, there was a day of impulse lectures on our scientific work and discussion rounds on topics such as acquiring third-party funding, mental health and career planning. Here, the basis was created for informal exchange, but also for future cooperation.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/section>\n\n\n\n\n

To foster a supportive and collaborative postdoc community, we have launched several initiatives that promote both scientific and non-scientific exchange.
