Method for label-free cell analysis and sorting validated
In collaboration with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), researchers at the technology platform Flow Cytometry Core Facility (FCCF) at the DRFZ have successfully validated their newly developed method for label-free analysis and sorting of cells. The results were published in the journal Applied Optics.
The FCCF develops innovative technologies that characterize cells in a completely novel way. The light scattered by the cells is detected and analyzed with high throughput and exceptional accuracy. This detailed analysis allows cell types to be reliably distinguished without the use of special dyes or markers.
To verify the method, computer simulations and polymer particle measurements were compared. The excellent agreement between the mathematical model and the experiment confirmed the reliability of the approach.
The findings open up new application options and represent an important step forward in the further development of label-free flow cytometry.
