Hyun-Dong Chang takes over as Chair of the ISAC Membership Services Committee

Prof Dr Hyun-Dong Chang from the German Rheumatology Research Center (DRFZ) was recently appointed Chair of the Membership Services Committee of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry (ISAC).
The tasks of the Membership Services Committee
The Membership Services Committee analyses how the needs of members and the ISAC are developing. It elaborates targeted strategies to strengthen membership and attract new members. In addition, the committee actively promotes the goals of the society, fosters networking with international cytometry societies and supports the dissemination of cytometry in developing countries – for example through equipment donations and targeted training programmes.
At the CYTO, ISAC’s annual congress, the committee organises various events: These include the ‘First-Time Attendee Breakfast’, which offers new members the opportunity to talk to ISAC’s senior leadership in a relaxed atmosphere.
Hyun-Dong Chang and cytometry
Hyun-Dong Chang has been involved in the further advancement of cell analysis and cytometry for many years. As Scientific Head of the Flow Cytometry Core Facilitiy at the DRFZ, he plays a central role in the research and application of this technology. From 2014 – 2016, he was President of the German Society for Cytometry e.V. In 2020, he was appointed Professor of Cytometry at the Institute of Biotechnology at TU Berlin.
In 2016, together with Prof Dr Andrea Cossarizza (University of Modena, Italy) and Prof Dr Andreas Radbruch (DRFZ), he developed the Guidelines for the Use of Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting in Immunological Studies in collaboration with the European Journal of Immunology. These guidelines were updated in 2018 and 2021.
Prof. Chang also regularly organises courses on cytometry, including the satellite symposium ‘Advanced Cytometry Course’ at the European Congress of Immunology, which deals with the latest developments and applications in cytometry. He has been an active member of the ISAC for several years and now contributes his expertise in a leading role.
In 2025, he is a member of the organising committee for CYTO2025, the world’s largest specialist conference for cytometry.
Er ist Mitglied im Organisationskomitee für die CYTO2025, die weltweit größte Fachtagung für die Zytometrie.
