IRiSS: Information needs regarding rheumatism during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Women with inflammatory rheumatic diseases face complex medical and emotional decisions when planning to have children. Questions about the compatibility of motherhood and chronic illness, the course of pregnancy and breastfeeding, the impact of pregnancy on the disease and treatment options are central and consern women, sometimes long before they become pregnant.

The project aims to identify information needs and structural barriers as perceived and experienced by the women themselves. Therefore, 20 women with various inflammatory rheumatic diseases will be questioned using qualitative interviews on relevant topics related to pregnancy, contradictory, unclear or unavailable information, and needs for support. The subsequent online survey will serve to prioritise the identified topics and expectations.

The project is funded by Deutsche Rheumastiftung. The collaboration will continue beyond the funding period.
