Long Night of Science 2026 at the DRFZ
Science hands-on until midnight
For the Long Night of Science on June 6, 2026, the DRFZ and the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology opened their doors together. Until midnight, 1900 visitors explored the world of research with great curiosity.
Through hands-on experiments, our guests determined their blood type and examined their white blood cells under a microscope. The guided tours of the laboratories were also of great interest and were completely booked out.
The scientific lectures and the panel discussion on career paths in research were particularly appreciated. Guests took the opportunity to ask questions and engage in personal conversations with scientists. A magnet for the audience was the Science Slam, where four early-career researchers presented their projects in a vivid and creative manner.
Once again this year, medical expertise was provided by doctors from Immanuel Hospital Berlin, Park-Klinik Weißensee, and the Department of Rheumatology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Their offerings on nutrition and health were well received by many visitors. Ultrasound examinations and insights into the fine capillaries of the fingers were especially requested.
The program was complemented by the Rheuma-Liga Berlin e.V. and Morbus Bechterew e.V., who provided information about their work with great dedication. Interactive stations such as the “Rheumatism Glove” were once again very popular.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all staff members, doctors, and patient representatives whose dedication helped make the LNDW 2026 a special experience for our audience and for us as well. We are already looking forward to the next Long Night of Science on June 19, 2027.
