DRFZ Sets a Record in the 2026 “Stadtradeln” Challenge
10,024 Kilometers for the Climate
In 2026, the DRFZ once again actively participated in the “Stadtradeln – Cycling for the Climate” challenge: Over the course of 21 days, 35 colleagues cycled a total of 10,024 kilometers. The team thus surpassed the previous year’s result by 40 percent and set a new institute record.
A record was also set in the individual standings: With 2,223.7 kilometers, Peter Jani not only secured first place at the DRFZ but also became the overall champion among the Charité teams.
On average, DRFZ participants covered 286.4 kilometers per person. With this strong team performance, the DRFZ achieved an outstanding 5th place among a total of 65 Charité teams. In addition, the distances cycled helped to save approximately 1,644 kilograms of CO₂.
Colleagues celebrated this sporting success in the traditional way with non-alcoholic Radler.

City Cycling – Cycling for the Climate is a Germany-wide competition focused on completing as many everyday trips as possible in a climate-friendly way by bicycle. The goal is for teams to accumulate kilometers and thereby reduce CO₂ emissions.
