The immunology community mourns the loss of Fritz Melchers

Fritz Melchers passed away on February 24, 2025. With his passing, the immunological research community not only lost an internationally influential scientist in this field, but also a respected colleague, mentor and friend. His deep understanding of immunological processes and his inspiring personality will remain unforgotten.

Andreas Radbruch (DRFZ), Thomas Winkler (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) and Klaus Rajewsky (Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine), together with Peter K. Jani, his closest scientific group member at the DRFZ for many years, have published an obituary in the European Journal of Immunology.
