ERC Advanced Grant – Spatio-temporal integration of skin inflammation“ (4D-SkINFLAM)
ERC Grants
The ERC Advanced Grant aims to decipher inflammatory mechanisms in severe skin diseases.
Skin cells have their own innate immune system sensors that react to stress or danger. These so-called inflammasomes are complexes in the cells that are formed from various proteins and transmit signals that control the inflammatory processes. The 4D-SkINFLAM project aims to investigate the various components of inflammasomes in spatial and temporal resolution. AI-controlled image analysis methods will also be used for this purpose. The aim is to decipher the triggers of skin inflammation, such as those that occur in psoriatic arthritis, and to define the sensors that mediate the inflammatory vicious circle. This is the basis for identifying new therapeutic targets for inflammatory skin diseases, which should lead to a complete cure.
