LinkMedR Reaches an Important Milestone in Linking Registry Data
An important milestone has been reached in the BMG-funded project “Linkage of Cancer Registry Data with Other Medical Registries” (LinkMedR): Data from medical registries and individual regional cancer registries have been successfully made available and linked. The first de facto anonymized analytical datasets are now available to investigate key questions regarding the relationship between these diseases and their treatments and cancer. The project is coordinated by Dr. Anne Regierer, head of the DRFZ’s Registry Research in Rheumatology group.
The results to date show where data reconciliation, data provision, and data linkage are already possible, and where further harmonization is needed. Rejections from state cancer registries also provide concrete insights into the legal, technical, or organizational requirements for the further development of future cross-registry data linkages.
The window for data submission and linkage will remain open until the end of September 2026. It’s still to be determined how many state clinical cancer registries will ultimately have their data successfully linked by then.
