STRAT4PAIS – Immunological Endotypes of Pediatric Post-Acute Infection Syndromes (PAIS): Mechanistic Stratification of ME/CFS and Associated Post-Infectious Diseases
In the STRAT4PAIS project, funded by the ME/CFS Research Foundation, Prof. Dr. Tilmann and PD Dr. Mir-Farzin Mashreghi, together with colleagues from Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin—Prof. Dr. Marc Nikolaus and Dr. Fabian Dannenberg—are systematically investigating why children and adolescents with ME/CFS or Long COVID have similar symptoms but are likely driven by different biological processes. Using state-of-the-art single-cell analyses, the project is investigating the disease mechanisms and searching for clearly distinguishable biological endotypes to which patients can be classified. The goal is to better understand the causes of the disease and to provide a better basis for more targeted, individually tailored treatments. STRAT4PAIS is linked, among other initiatives, to the PEDNET-LC project funded by the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG).
