Hasinger Lecture and Mitchison Prize

Symposium “From Innate to Adaptive Immunity – a question of memory”

In 2024, the DRFZ, together with the Rheumatology Department Mitte of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology, is organising the symposium “From Innate to Adaptive Immunity – a question of memory” on 1 and 2 July 2024 to recognise the transition of the leadership of the DRFZ from Andreas Radbruch to Eicke Latz.

We are delighted to welcome more than 30 outstanding, internationally renowned rheumatologists and immunologists to Berlin for this two-day event to discuss science with young scientists.

The symposium requires a lot of resources – our commitment this year will focus on this event. The Hasinger Lecture and Michison Award Ceremony will therefore be omitted in 2024.

Avrion Mitchison Prize

In honor of its Founding Director, Avrion Mitchison (1928 – 2022), the DRFZ annually awards the Avrion Mitchison Prize to early career scientists who have significantly contributed to the rheumatology field. Donated by the Ernst Schering Foundation until 2018, the prize is now awarded by the DRFZ. The prize is endowed with 3,000 Euro.

Albrecht Hasinger Lecture

The Albrecht Hasinger Lecture was initiated in honor of Albrecht Hasinger in 1994 by Prof. Dr. Gerd-Rüdiger Burmester, former Head of Rheumatology at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and is intended to commemorate his contributions to rheumatology: every year, a renowned international scientist is invited to Berlin to give a lecture on this occasion.
