Prof. Chiara Romagnani is the new director of the Institute for Medical Immunology at Charité

DRFZ Liaison Group Leader, Prof. Chiara Romagnani has been appointed to the professorship for Medical Immunology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. She succeeds Prof. Hans-Dieter Volk, who headed the Institute of Medical Immunology until 2021. This appointment will further strengthen the already close cooperation between the Institute for Medical Immunology and the DRFZ.

In parallel, Prof. Romagnani will receive a joint professorship in cooperation with the Freie Unviersität Berlin as part of the Berlin University Alliance.

Prof. Romagnani has headed the research group “Innate Immunity” at the DRFZ since 2009 and is an internationally-recognised expert in the field of innate lymphocytes, in particular innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) and natural killer cells.
