This year’s Wolfgang Schulze Foundation Förderpreis presented to Dr. Katinka Albrecht & Dr. Johanna Callhoff from the Epidemiology Health Services Research group of the DRFZ on the occasion of World Arthritis Day on 12 October 2023. It was fitting that the laudation was given by Prof. Dr. Angela Zink who is the former head of both the epidemiology programme area and the Health Services Research group.

The two researchers received the award for their extensive research examining how many people in Germany are affected by inflammatory rheumatic diseases. In total, approximately 1.5 to 2.1 million adults in Germany have an inflammatory rheumatic disease and about 14,000 children and adolescents have juvenile arthritis.
